Fraud Suspects

The two pictured individuals are wanted for questioning regarding a fraud which occurred on April 25, 2017. The victim was approached by two individuals claiming to be from Africa and only in the United States to collect a civil settlement worth millions of dollars.  During the course of the conversation, both suspects attempted to defraud the victim through deception stating they needed money to process the settlement, and after which the victim would receive a sum of money for their help.

Drug Arrest- On January 10, 2018, Cpl. O'Connor was transporting Suspect Mysean James Fox, age 29, of Washington, DC, to the St. Mary's County Detention and Rehabilitation Center, on a Prince George's County Warrant for CDS- Possession with Intent to Distribute. While transporting Fox, it was revealed he had hidden CDS in his underwear.  Upon arrival at the detention center an additional search was conducted which revealed a baggie containing suspected cocaine.  Fox was charged with CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia, and CDS: Possess-Not Marijuana.  CASE# 1580-18

Drug Arrest- On January 10, 2018, DFC. D. Smith responded to the 30000 block of Three Notch Road, in Charlotte Hall, regarding a welfare check of a driver who had fallen asleep at the fuel pumps.  Upon arrival, DFC. Smith observed a knife and pill container in the driver's lap.  The driver of the vehicle was later determined to be Derrick Aubin Burch, age 29, of Hughesville. Further investigation also revealed numerous pills inside the vehicle.  Burch was arrested for CDS: Possession Not Marijuana.  CASE# 1674-18

Assault- On January 13, 2018, Dep. Bare responded to the 20000 block of Willows Road, in Lexington Park, for a report of an assault.  Upon arrival contact was made with Suspect Ingrid Siomara Garcia-Carillo, who advised she and the victim had been arguing.  Contact was made with the victim who displayed visible signs of injury their neck and face.  Garcia-Carillo was arrested and charged with Assault 2nd Degree.  CASE# 2184-18 (No Photograph Available)

On January 9, 2018, the suspects drove onto the County Lakes Athletic Field causing damage to the field and a sign.  The athletic field is located at the intersection of Asher Road and Cox Drive in Mechanicsville, Maryland.

Critically Missing Person

Crystal Lynn Magtutu, age 30, of Clements, has been reported as a missing person.  At this time the missing person is considered critically missing.  Magtutu has blonde hair and blue eyes; she is 5’6” in height, and weighs 170lbs.   The missing person is possibly armed with a handgun and operating a green 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, which is currently not registered.

Weapons Violation/Drug Arrest

On January 17, 2018, Cpl. Potter stopped a vehicle in the 22000 block of Pegg Road, in Lexington Park, for a traffic violation. Upon making contact with the driver of the vehicle, Thomas Lionel Wills, age 40, of Lexington Park, a cut straw containing white residue was observed. Further search of the vehicle yielded multiple bags containing cocaine and heroin, as well as numerous pills believed to be Oxycodone; a loaded handgun was also recovered.

 

Wills was arrested and charged with the following; Three Counts of Possession of CDS-Not Marijuana, Carrying handgun on Person, and Felon in Possession of Handgun; Wills has previous felony convictions for CDS: Possession with Intent to Distribute.  Wills was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center.

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the identity of the person pictured.  On January 16, 2018, at the California Walmart, located on Miramar Way, the pictured suspect pushed a cart containing two Shark Vacuum Cleaners, and a Keurig Coffee Maker past all points of sale and exited the store without paying for the items.

Drug Arrest- On January 13, 2018, Sgt. Merritt conducted a traffic stop in the 21000 block of Great Mills Road, in Lexington Park.  After making contact with the operator of the vehicle, Tyquan Samuel Wills, age 18, of Lexington Park, a strong odor of marijuana was emitting from the vehicle.  A search of the vehicle yielded suspected marijuana.  Wills was arrested and charged with CDS Poss-Marijuana 10GM+.  CASE# 2098-18

Assault- On January 13, 2018, Dep. Nauman responded to the 21000 block of Manon Way, in California, for a reported assault.  Upon arrival contact was made with the victim who had a laceration to the hand, and bruising to the neck.  According to the victim, the injuries had been caused by Suspect Lynn Elizabeth O'Quinn, age 51, of California. Assault- On January 14, 2018, Cpl. Foor responded to the 49000 block of Fresh Pond Road, in Scotland, for a reported assault.  Upon arrival contact was made with the victim who advised Tyler Deshun Roberts, age 23, of Scotland, had assaulted the victim.  Investigation revealed Roberts had strangled the victim, bit the victim in the face, and also used a kitchen knife to cut the victim's wrist.  Roberts was arrested and charged with Assault 1st Degree and Assault 2nd Degree.  CASE# 2349-18

Animal Cruelty/Resisting Arrest- On January 16, 2018, DFC. Schultz responded to the 21000 block of Ranger Road, in Lexington Park, for a suspected animal cruelty.  Upon arrival DFC. Schultz observed a female dog who had recently had a litter; DFC. Schultz was able to see the animals ribs protruding, and the dog appeared malnourished.  Further investigation revealed numerous young puppies all appearing malnourished, and one had an open wound on its tail which did not appear to have been treated.  Animal Control was on scene and a total of eight dogs were removed from the home. Suspect Joseph William Smith, age 24, of Lexington Park, was determined to be the owner of the animals.  Upon the animals being removed from the home, Smith became combative and began hindering the investigation.  Smith was placed under arrest and charged with the following: 8 counts of Animal Cruelty, Obstructing & Hindering, Disorderly Conduct, Resist/Interfere with Arrest, and Sale of Puppy or Kitten.  CASE# 2669-18

Assault- On January 16, 2018, DFC. McCuen responded to the St. Mary's County Detention and Rehabilitation Center, in Leonardtown, for a reported assault.  Investigation revealed Duron Matthew Chase, age 30, of Leonardtown, and Francis Xavier Hill, age 21, with no fixed address, had a confrontation during which both Hill and Chase assaulted each other. Assault- On January 17, 2018, Cpl. Kirkner responded to the St. Mary's County Detention and Rehabilitation Center for a report of an assault.  Investigation revealed Brian Yancey Sampson age 37, of Mechanicsville, assaulted the victim by striking the victim in the face.  Sampson was charged with Assault 2nd Degree.  CASE# 2943-18

Unattended Child -  On January 17, 2018, DFC. Roszell was in the 22000 block of Cosmos Court, in Great Mills, and while conducting a neighborhood canvass encountered two young children in a home, unattended.  Contact was made with Karena Yvette Price, age 35, of Great Mills, who had custody of the children at the time they were unattended.  Price was charged via Criminal Citation with Unattended Child.  CASE# 2833-18 (No Photograph Available)




Burglary- On January 17, 2018, Dep. J. Smith responded to the 22000 block of Bayside Road, in Leonardtown, for a reported burglary.  Investigation revealed Suspect Robert Ernest Smith, age 75, of Chesapeake Beach, ran out of gas, at which time he burglarized a shed on the victim's property and removed gas cans.  Smith was located, arrested, and charged with Burglary.  CASE# 2902-18

Death of Sheriff K-9 Brock

It is with great sadness the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office announces the death of Sheriff

K-9 Brock.  On January 18, 2018, K-9 Brock was serving alongside his partner and handler Corporal William Rishel, on a training exercise with police recruits at the Southern Maryland Criminal Justice Academy.  During the training, K-9 Brock was injured and subsequently transported to a veterinarian hospital for evaluation and treatment.  Unfortunately, K-9 Brock died as a result of his injuries.

 

Sheriff K-9 Brock was a four year old German Shepherd certified and cross-trained in Patrol functions as well as Narcotics Detection.  K-9 Brock faithfully served the citizens of St. Mary’s County for three years, and resided with his partner Cpl. Rishel for the duration of his time with the Sheriff’s Office.   During K-9 Brock’s time on the force, he provided direct support to the Patrol Division, participated in many K-9 demonstrations, and accompanied his partner to schools in St. Mary’s County to assist with career day and educational programs. Sheriff K-9 Brock was a beloved member of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office and our thoughts and prayers are with the members of the K-9 Unit and the Rishel family at this time.

DUI/Weapons Violation-  On January 18, 2018, Dep. Molitor responded to a motor vehicle accident in the 20000 block of Pt. Lookout Road, in Callaway; the reported at fault vehicle in the accident was in the process of fleeing the scene.  Upon arrival, Dep. Molitor located the at fault vehicle disabled a short distance away from the scene.  Contact was made with the operator of the vehicle, Charles Ray McElhaney, age 62, of Tall Timbers.  McElhaney was ultimately arrested for Driving Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol, and Driving While Impaired.  Inventory search of McElhaney's vehicle was conducted prior to it being towed from the scene; a handgun was located under the passenger seat of the vehicle; ammunition was located inside the vehicle as well, and an open bottle of whiskey was also found in the vehicle. Assault- On January 19, 2018, DFC. Schultz responded to the 46000 block of Ellenbee Court, in Lexington Park, for a report of an assault. Upon arrival contact was made with a victim who displayed visible injury from an assault.  Investigation revealed Suspect Brian O'Neal Johnson, age 31, of Lexington Park, assaulted the victim by striking the victim in the face several times.  Johnson was arrested and charged with Assault 2nd Degree.  CASE# 3191-18

Assault/CDS/Resisting Arrest- On January 19, 2018, Cpl. O'Connor responded to the 48000 block of Keel Drive, in Lexington Park, to locate a critically missing person.  Upon arrival officers were let into the residence by an individual who had visible signs of injury to their face.  The victim advised the injuries were caused by Suspect Crystal Lynn  Magtutu, age 30, of Clements.  Contact was made with Magtutu who was uncooperative and would not allow herself to be taken into custody.  Magtutu was ultimately taken into custody and numerous pills suspected to be Flexeril were located on her person in an unlabeled prescription bottle. Magtutu was charged with Assault 2nd Degree, CDS: Possess-Not Marijuana, and Resist/Interfere with Arrest.  CASE# 3210-18

Alcohol Violation- On January 19, 2018, DFC. Beishline and DFC. Pontorno were in the 21000 block of Great Mills Road, in Lexington Park, when they observed Paul Matthew Baker, age 33, and Ryan Nicholas Cherrico, age 27, both of Mechanicsville, with open containers of alcohol.  Baker and Cherrico were both charged with Open Alcoholic Beverage Container via Criminal Citations. Burglary/Assault-  On January 19, 2018, DFC. D. Smith responded to the 26000 block of Holt Lane in reference to an in progress burglary/assault. Upon arrival DFC. Smith observed Suspect Shaun Sylvester Johnson, age 37, with no fixed address, leaving the residence.  DFC. Smith took Johnson into custody at which time Johnson became combative; Johnson was ultimately arrested.  Investigation revealed Johnson had assaulted the victim earlier in the evening, and later came to the victim's residence and forced his way into the residence.  Johnson was charged with Home Invasion, Burglary 4th Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Malicious Destruction of Property, Theft, and Resist/Interfere with Arrest.  CASE# 3278-18

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the identity of the person pictured.  On December 19, 2017, at the Old Navy store located in California, MD, the person pictured bought an inexpensive item and gave the cashier a $100.00 bill.  While the clerk was distracted waiting for another employee to provide change, the suspect took the $100.00 back.  The suspect then received $96.00 in change, and left the store with the change and the $100.00.

Please join us for a comprehensive and sensible approach to Safety and Security for Places Of Worship. During this training participants will learn about violence in the workplace, schools, and places of worship.  We will offer a sensible response to an active shooter and address the aftermath of a critical incident and the importance of working with the media after an event.

Shooting in Lexington Park

On January 4, 2018, deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 21000 block of Great Mills Road, in Lexington Park, for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival an adult male victim was located and found to be suffering from a gunshot wound.  Due to the seriousness of the victim’s injuries, he was transported by helicopter to a trauma center for further treatment.  At this time, it is believed the shooting was unprovoked.  The suspect in this matter is described as an African American male possibly between twenty to thirty years old.  At the time of the incident he was wearing dark colored clothing, and a knit cap; the suspect may have ties to the Patuxent Homes subdivision.
