Threat of Arson/Disorderly Conduct- On July 29, 2021, Sgt. T. Snyder responded to the 22800 block of Three Notch Road in California, for the reported disturbance. Deputies arrived on scene and observed Ja Sean Ijae Reed, age 23 of no fixed address, in the parking lot yelling at customers. Investigation determined Reed entered the business, and was asked to leave. Reed began to yell at the victim and threatened to blow the building up.  Reed then entered another nearby business and began to yell at customers and bang on the windows of the business. Reed was previously encountered by deputies at another business, and asked to leave the premise by employees and deputies. Reed was arrested and charged with Arson/Threat, Disorderly Conduct, Disturbing the Peace, and Fail to Obey a Reasonable/Lawful Order. CASE# 39192-21

Assault- On July 30, 2021, Dep. Forbes responded to the 21600 block of Saratoga Drive in Lexington Park, for the reported assault. Investigation determined John Lamont Graham, age 52 of Lexington Park, assaulted the victim by strangling and scratching the victim. Injuries were observed to the victim's neck and back. Assault- On July 31, 2021, Cpl. Kerby responded to the St. Mary's County Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown, for the reported assault. Investigation determined Terronta Antwon Leak, age 30 of no fixed address, assaulted the victim by punching the victim repeatedly in the face. Leak was charged with Assault 2nd Degree. Indecent Exposure- On July 31, 2021, Cpl. D. Smith responded to the 40800 block of Merchant's Lane in Leonardtown, for the reported indecent exposure. Investigation determined Joseph Jackson Yates, age 58 of no fixed address, was observed in the area naked. Yates was arrested and charged with Indecent Exposure. CASE# 39513-21

Assault- On August 1, 2021, Dep. Salas responded to the 20200 block of Point Lookout Road in Lexington Park, for the reported disturbance. Contact was made with the victim who had lacerations to the right armpit area and the left leg. The victim advised the injuries were sustained when Brandy Nicole Ford, age 25 of Lexington Park, used a razorblade to cut the victim. Ford was arrested and charged with Assault 2nd Degree. Assault- On August 2, 2021, Dep. C. Hill responded to the St. Mary's County Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown, for the reported assault. Investigation determined Ryan Tyler Burton, age 31 of Hollywood, and Henry Michael Schnitker, age 18 of Leonardtown, engaged in a mutual assault by throwing food on each another, and during the incident, Burton sustained injury to his hand. Sheriff's Deputies and Ridge Fire Department Teach Youngsters Fire Safety

Corporals Kristi Nelson and Jaime Davis and the Ridge Volunteer Fire Department teamed up on Thursday at The King's Christian Academy Summer Camp in Callaway to teach youngsters what they should do in the event of a house fire and other fire safety tips. Cpl. Nelson and Cpl. Davis explained the importance of calling 911 in an emergency. The campers are age 4-8. 


 





Fatal Crash in Mechanicsville Under Investigation

On Friday, Aug. 6, 2021, at approximately 10:31 am, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Patrol deputies were dispatched to a single motor vehicle crash in the area of Loveville Road and Three Notch Road in Mechanicsville. The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Collision Reconstruction Unit was contacted and assumed the investigation.

Preliminary investigation determined that a 1990 Buick LeSabre, operated by Brian Anthony Farmer, age 43 of Waldorf, was traveling northbound on Loveville Road when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. Farmer was unconscious at the time of police arrival and emergency medical staff removed him from the vehicle and began life-saving measures. Farmer was transported to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital in Leonardtown where he was pronounced deceased.

Farmer’s passenger, Brenda King, was transported to a regional hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.

UPDATE: Missing Person Located-Tyler Rose

UPDATE: After an extensive search, Tyler Andrew Rose, was located deceased. The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office wishes to thank the Maryland State Police, the Prince George’s County Police Department, and the Calvert K-9 Search Team for their assistance in the search.

Original Release: The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the whereabouts of Tyler Andrew Rose, age 30 of Mechanicsville. Rose is classified as critically missing and is believed to be armed with a handgun. Rose is a white male, 6’1” and weighs 190 pounds with red hair and blue eyes. Rose was last known to be in the Golden Beach area of Mechanicsville on foot.

Two Suspects Arrested in Hollywood Shooting

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division has arrested two suspects in a shooting incident at a Hollywood business on Saturday morning that left two victims injured.

Diamante Raquan Butler, age 23 of Lexington Park, was arrested on Sunday, Aug. 8, 2021, and charged with Handgun on Person; Loaded Handgun on Person; Loaded Handgun in Vehicle; Handgun in Vehicle; Firearm Possession Felony Conviction; Illegal Possession of a Regulated Firearm and Illegal Possession of Ammo. Butler was further charged by warrant with two counts of First-Degree Assault; two counts of Second-Degree Assault; two counts of Reckless Endangerment; two counts of Reckless Endangerment from Car; Handgun in Vehicle; Handgun on Person; Firearm in Use of a Violent Crime; Loaded Handgun in Vehicle and Loaded Handgun on Person. Butler is held at the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown on a no-bond status.

Also arrested on Aug. 8, 2021 was Antoine Keith Mackall III, age 27 of Lusby, for two counts of First-Degree Assault; Accessory After the Fact; two counts of Second-Degree Assault; two counts of Reckless Endangerment; two counts of Reckless Endangerment from Car; Handgun in Vehicle; Handgun on Person; Firearm in the Use of a Violent Crime; Loaded Handgun in Vehicle and Loaded Handgun on Person. Mackall is also held at the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center on a no-bond status.

On Saturday, Aug. 7, 2021 at 12:22 am, Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the Last Drop Bar at 23955 Mervell Dean Road in Hollywood for the report of a shooting. Deputies confirmed that two victims inside the establishment were struck by gunfire. Both victims were transported to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital in Leonardtown for non-incapacitating injuries.

Identity Needed for Theft Suspect

The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office is seeking the identity of the person pictured in a theft investigation. On Thursday, July 29, 2021 at 7:20 pm, the victim unknowingly dropped a wallet while getting out of a vehicle in the parking lot of Lexington Park Corner Liquors. The suspect then picked up the wallet, put it in his pocket and walked off with it.

The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office is seeking the identities of the persons pictured in a theft investigation. On Sunday, Aug. 8, 2021 at 5 pm, the female suspects were stopped at the California Walmart store with items in their cart that they failed to scan and pay for. Both suspects then fled the store.

Burglary/Disorderly Conduct- On August 2, 2021, Dep. Bowling responded to the 45600 block of Longfield's Boulevard in California, for the reported disturbance. Upon arrival Ja'Sean Ijae Reed, age 23 of no fixed address, was located inside the building. Witnesses advise Reed arrived at the business and began kicking the door to gain entry, after an employee refused to accept pamphlets Reed was trying to provide. Reed also destroyed a plastic holder attached to the door of the business. Reed entered the business and refused to leave, and continued yelling and causing a disturbance. Reed was arrested and charged with Burglary 4th Degree, Malicious Destruction of Property and Disorderly Conduct. CASE# 39855-21

Assault/Burglary- On August 3, 2021, Sgt. Snyder responded to the 46200 block of Greens Rest Court in Great Mills, for the report of an attempted burglary in progress. Investigation determined Daniel Allen Spooner Jr., age 31 of no fixed address, arrived at the residence and began kicking the garage and exterior doors to the residence in attempt to gain entry. Spooner then opened the gate to the backyard of the residence and began kicking the rear door to the residence. Spooner was able to force the door open and gain access to the residence where he assaulted the victim. Spooner was arrested and charged with Burglary 3rd Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, and Malicious Destruction of Property. After the incident, Spooner was served with a protective order prohibiting him from contacting the victim. Investigation determined Spooner contacted the victim from the detention center. Spooner was also charged with Violate Protective Order. CASE# 40119-21

Assault/Destruction of Property- On August 3, 2021, Dep. Mattera responded to the 45600 block of Longfield's Village Drive in California, for the reported disturbance. Investigation determined Alexander Tomas Hurley, age 28 of California, was in a disagreement with the victim and punched numerous holes in the wall of the residence. Investigation determined Ashley Ann Lopiccolo Yeager, age 38 of Park Hall, assaulted the victim by slapping and punching the victim, causing visible injury. Assault- On August 5, 2021, Dep. Walker responded to the St. Mary's County Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown, for the reported assault. Investigation determined Malachi Aaron Banks, age 19 of Lexington Park, stuffed a sock with soap, and then struck the victim in the head with the sock. Banks continued to assault the victim by striking the victim several times in the face. Banks was charged with Assault 2nd Degree. CASE# 40409-21

Investigation determined Ashley Marie Hottle, age 34 of Mechanicsville, assaulted the victim by striking the victim in the face with a cellphone causing visible injury. Disorderly Conduct/Resisting Arrest- On August 7, 2021, Cpl. Reppel responded to the 23100 block of Three Notch Road in California, for the reported fight in progress. Upon arrival Jocelyn Uneice Greenwell, age 23 of Mechanicsville, was observed inside the business creating a disturbance. Greenwell was ordered to leave the business several times and refused to do so and continued yelling at the crowd gathering. Greenwell also blocked the hallway and not allowing customers in the business to leave. At one point Greenwell removed her shoe and threw it into the crowd. Greenwell actively pulled away from deputies on scene who were attempting to arrest her. Greenwell was arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct, Disturbing the Public Peace and Resisting Arrest. Disorderly Conduct/Resisting Arrest- On August 7, 2021, Cpl. Reppel responded to the 23100 block of Three Notch Road in California, for the reported fight in progress. Upon arrival Aisha Corryn Milburn, age 23 of California, was inside the business yelling and fighting with several individuals. The parties were separated and Milburn continued to try and go after others on scene, and interfered with the arrest of another individual by pulling the individual away from deputies on scene. Milburn then actively resisted arrest by pulling away from deputies on the scene. Milburn was charged with Disorderly Conduct, Disturbing the Public Peace and Resisting Arrest. CASE# 40693-21

Assault/Handgun Arrest- On August 7, 2021, Dep. Mattera responded to the 21600 block of Great Mills Road in Lexington Park, for the reported assault. Witnesses advised John Francis Dorsey Jr., age 33 of Lexington Park, became upset over about a cup of ice he was provided. A physical altercation ensued and the victim was bit on the shoulder by Dorsey. Dorsey then brandished a handgun and pointed it at the victim and another individual on scene. Both victims then fled into a business and Dorsey fled the area. Dorsey was located near the scene and arrested. Dorsey was charged with three counts of Assault 1st Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Handgun on Person and Regulated Firearm-Illegal Possession. CASE# 40775-21

Burglary/Theft- On August 9, 2021, Dep. Walker responded to the 45300 block of Barefoot Drive in California, for the burglar alarm activation. Upon arrival deputies observed an open window that had the screen removed. A door to  the basement was observed open and a screen door had been removed and damaged and wine was stolen from the residence.  A K-9 track was initiated and led to the residence of Meghann Emily Abraham, age 30 of California. Evidence related to the burglary was observed at Abraham's residence and she was placed under arrest and charged with Burglary 3rd and 4th Degree, Malicious Destruction of Property and Theft. Burglary/Drug Arrest- On July 31, 2021, Dep. Salas responded to the 21800 block of Three Notch Road in Lexington Park, for the reported burglary. A witness observed Destiny Marie Ayres, age 19 of no fixed address, force entry to a hotel room. Ayres was previously issued a notice not to trespass for the property. Ayres was located on scene and in the room she occupied was a bag containing rolled paper and suspected cocaine. Ayres was arrested and charged with Burglary 4th Degree, CDS: Possession-Not Marijuana and Trespass: Private Property.

Drug Arrest- On August 2, 2021, Dep. Forbes responded to the 46400 block of Chapman Drive in Lexington Park, for the reported burglary to motor vehicle. The victim advised he located an unknown female inside his vehicle, attempting to steal his property. The female was identified as Jennifer Leigh Heiston, age 36 of no fixed address. Heiston was located on scene and found on Heiston's person was a suspected CDS smoking device containing suspected cocaine residue. Heiston was charged with Burglary 4th Degree, CDS: Possession-Not Marijuana and CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia. Heiston was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for Trespassing.

Assault/Reckless Endangerment/Drug Arrest-On August 4, 2021, Dep. Chase conducted a vehicle stop in the 21400 block of Pegg Road in Lexington Park. Contact was made with the vehicle operator, Kelli Aaliyah Richardson, age 20 of Lexington Park. Suspected marijuana was observed in Richardson's purse and she was advised to exit the vehicle. Richardson was able to get the vehicle in gear, and accelerated at a high rate of speed, dragging both Sgt. Connelly and Dep. Chase down Pegg Road as well as off the roadway. Dep. Chase became dislodged from the vehicle and Sgt. Connelly was able to get the vehicle in neutral and stop the vehicle. Both deputies sustained non-incapacitating injuries as a result of being dragged by the vehicle. Richardson was removed from the vehicle at which time she resisted arrest and kicked another officer on scene. Located in the vehicle were clear capsules containing suspected heroin. Richardson was arrested and charged with two counts of Assault 1st Degree, three counts of Assault 2nd Degree/Law Enforcement Officer, Reckless Endangerment, Resisting Arrest, and CDS: Possession-not Marijuana.

Assault- On August 12, 2021, Dep. Mattera responded to the 21800 block of Three Notch Road in Lexington Park, for the reported assault. Investigation determined Bobby Raymond Davis, age 35 of Lexington Park, punched the victim in the head, and pushed the victim causing visible injury. Davis also broke the victim's cellphone. Davis was arrested and charged with Assault 2nd Degree and Malicious Destruction of Property.

Fraud/Drug Arrest- On August 13, 2021, Dep. Wynnyk conducted a vehicle stop in the 22000 block of Three Notch Road in Lexington Park. The operator of the vehicle provided a false name and date of birth, but was later determined to be John Maurice Neale, age 30 of Lexington Park. Neale had outstanding warrants and was taken into custody. Neale was served the outstanding warrants and also charged with Fraud-Person Identity/Avoid Prosecution.

Assault/Resist Arrest- On August 14, 2021, Cpl. White conducted a vehicle stop in the area of Three Notch Road and Wildewood Boulevard in California. The vehicle operator refused to provide his driver's license or name and fled the traffic stop. Deputies followed the vehicle which came to a stop due to traffic. At that time deputies approached the vehicle and advised the operator he was under arrest. The operator refused to cooperate and pushed a deputy's arm on scene. The operator was taken into custody and identified to be Reuben Deppores Reynolds, age 29 of Washington, D.C. Reynolds was charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Resisting Arrest, and Fail to Obey Lawful/Reasonable Order. (No Photograph Available)

Trespassing/Theft-On August 15, 2021, DFC. Fenwick responded to the 45400 block of Miramar Way in California, for the reported theft. Investigation determined Kelley Lynn Scott, age 57 of Lusby, stole items belonging to the business and violated a no trespass order previously issued to Scott in 2019. Scott was arrested and charged with Theft and Trespass: Private Property.

Assault- On August 15, Dep. Myers responded to the St. Mary's County Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown, for the reported assault. The victim stated Joseph Axzavis Stewart Jr., age 41 of Lexington Park, struck the victim in the face when the victim was yelling to others in the dayroom. Identity Needed for Theft Suspect

The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office is seeking the identity of the person pictured in a theft investigation. On Monday, Aug. 17, 2021 at 2:20 pm, the suspect did not scan all of the items in her cart at the self-checkout register at the California Walmart store. Furthermore, the suspect then left the store without paying for any of the items that the suspect did scan at the register.

Identity Needed for Burglary Suspect

The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office is seeking the identity of the person pictured in a burglary investigation. On Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2021 at 1 am, the black male suspect was recorded on video surveillance entering the victim's vehicle at the 23100 block of Poppy Way in California. The suspect removed personal property from inside of the vehicle before moving on to other vehicles in attempts to enter them.

Be Alert for School Buses as Children Return to Classes

Motorists in St. Mary's County are reminded that students are heading back to school, starting next week, and to be prepared to stop for school buses as they pick up and drop off children. 

Private and parochial schools reopen to students on Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2021 and St. Mary's County Public Schools reopen to students on Monday, Aug. 30, 2021. 

Drivers are required by state law to stop for school buses that have activated their flashing red lights and to provide at least 20 feet of space from the rear or front of the school bus if approaching from its front. A driver may not proceed until the bus has deactivated its flashing red lights. 

The fine for failure to stop and remained stopped for a school bus with its flashing red lights activated is $570 and three points assessed on a driver's license. 

Drivers are not required to stop for a school bus with its activated flashing red lights if on the other side of a divided highway, as shown in Figure 4 in this example: 



Lexington Park Man Arrested for CDS Distribution

In July of 2021, detectives from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Vice/Narcotics Division began an investigation into the distribution of controlled dangerous substances (CDS) by Marcus Jerome Hicks, age 25 of Lexington Park. On August 19, 2021, with assistance from the Emergency Services Team (EST), the Youth Gun Violence Task Force, and the Patrol Division, search and seizure warrants were executed on Hicks’ residence and vehicle. As a result, suspected cocaine and firearms were located.

Hicks was arrested and charged with the following:

CDS: Possession-Not Marijuana

CDS: Possession-Paraphernalia

Firearm/Drug Trafficking Crime

Rifle/Shotgun: Unregistered

Watch for School Buses as Students Return to Classes on Monday

Motorists are reminded that St. Mary's County Public School students return to classes on Monday, Aug. 30, 2021, and to be prepared to stop for school buses as they pick up and drop off children. 

Drivers are required by Maryland state law to stop for school buses that have activated their flashing red lights and to provide at least 20 feet of space from the rear or front of the school bus if approaching from its front. A driver may not proceed until the bus has deactivated its flashing red lights. 

The fine for failure to stop and remained stopped for a school bus with its flashing red lights activated is $570 and three points assessed on a driver's license. 

Drivers are not required to stop for a school bus with its activated flashing red lights if on the other side of a divided highway, as shown in Figure 4 in this example: 



 

Homicide in California Under Investigation

On August 27, 2021, at approximately 11:20 p.m. deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 23200 block of Woodland Acres Road in California, for the reported burglary with an individual shot. Deputies arrived on scene and located an individual, later identified as Tavein Malik Dickens, age 23 of Lexington Park, suffering from a gunshot wound. Lifesaving measures were attempted at the scene and Dickens was transported to an area trauma center where he was later pronounced deceased.

Preliminary investigation determined Dickens forced entry to the residence through the front door after repeatedly banging on other exterior doors and windows around the residence.  As Dickens entered the residence, he was confronted by the homeowner at which time a struggle ensued.  During the struggle, the homeowner discharged a firearm, striking Dickens in the upper body.

The investigation is ongoing and will be reviewed with the State’s Attorney for St. Mary’s County. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact Detective Daniel Sidorowicz at (301) 475-4200 extension 78043 or by email at Daniel.Sidorowicz@stmarysmd.com.
